 Yahaira “Jay” Placencia ’01

Senior Vice President and Private Client Advisor
Bank of America Private Bank

Yahaira (Jay) Placencia is a Senior Vice President and Private Client Advisor with Bank of America Private Bank in Providence, Rhode Island. For nearly two decades, she has been passionate about addressing the needs of small business owners, entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations.

From helping to grow a business, to realizing its value through a sale, Jay and her team can connect business owners to the resources and capabilities that align with their unique needs. Together, they look to uncover possible efficiencies in investment management, business succession planning, tax minimization strategies, liquidity-event planning, and credit and lending strategies. Jay also harnesses her deep experiences to assist nonprofit organizations—on both the board and committee member levels—to help further their missions.

Since joining Bank of America’s business banking division in 2000, Jay has held various roles, including senior client manager. Her responsibilities included oversight of key commercial client relationships and development of strategies to support for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. She joined Bank of America Private Bank (formerly U.S. Trust) in 2014. Jay began her career in banking in 1993 working for a local non-traditional lender. She earned her B.B.A. from the University of Rhode Island, while working full time.

With a deep commitment to her community, Jay is a member of the Rhode Island Commodores and serves on the Rhode Island Foundation Impact Investment Board. She is director for the Northern RI Chamber of Commerce Board and trustee of the University of Rhode Island Board. She is also a member of the American Heart Association Board and the United Way Community Advisory Board. She previously served as trustee for the Community College of Rhode Island’s Foundation Board and Trinity Repertory Company. A first generation Dominican American, Jay has two children (Imani 19 and Jaden 14).
