Sustaining Research at the University of Rhode Island

Research in Action

URI has earned R1 status from the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, reserved for the nation’s top research universities. Grants from outside institutions typically cover a significant portion of research costs. At URI, 81% of research funding came from federal grants in one year. With recent reductions in federal grants, it is crucial that we find new ways to sustain this meaningful work.

Continue the URI tradition of advancing big ideas.
The Research Impact Fund provides immediate support for faculty and students to keep current projects moving forward, retain top talent, and enable the pursuit of new ideas. Join the effort.

Fueling Further Discovery

For the University to build on the R1 designation and continue beneficial research, we are seeking to increase private support. The Research Impact Fund channels support to areas immediately affected. You can also support the academic area of your choice by searching “research” on our online form.

Excellence in research has always been
part of our story.
