Meet the Panelists: 

 

Niki Lattarulo ’19

Sports Anchor/Host, SportsNet New York

Niki Lattarulo ’19 joined SNY as a sports anchor, host, and reporter in June of 2023. Prior to SNY she worked as a sports anchor/reporter in Nashville, TN for a year and Waco, TX for two and a half years. She was born and raised in Northern New Jersey and graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a double major in journalism and communications. At URI, Niki worked as a reporter for URI Athletics where she covered Dan Hurley and the Rams’ back-to-back NCAA Tournament runs.

 

 Chris Poirier ’90

General Manager, Perform Better

Chris Poirier ’90 was born and raised in Narragansett, RI and attended Narragansett High School where he was a three-year varsity starter in Football and Baseball. He earned a scholarship to play football for the University of Rhode Island where he earned his degree Human Development and Counseling. At URI he was a 4-year letterman and broke
the school record for all-purpose yards.

He went on to become the head football coach for South Kingstown High School in South Kingstown, RI before becoming the general manager of Perform Better in 1992. Chris has organized and assembled over 500 seminars with over 200 presenters. If you are attending a Perform Better Seminar there is a good chance you will run into Chris.

 

 Aniebiet Okon ’23

Assistant Director of Graphic Design, West Virginia University Athletics

Aniebiet Okon ’23 is a creative storyteller and versatile designer based in Providence, Rhode Island. He recently received his degree in Public Relations and Sports Media and Communications from the University of Rhode Island’s Harrington School of Communication and Media.

Aniebiet is currently the assistant director of graphic design for West Virginia University Athletics. His responsibilities include assisting in the coordination of graphic design efforts for the athletics department, while developing graphic and social media content for the athletics communications and marketing departments on a daily basis.

At URI, he worked as a graphic design intern for the football team and athletic department. He was also a graphic design intern for Queensboro FC in Queens, New York, where he helped develop and deliver the team’s visual identity for their u20 men’s team during the Fall 2022 season.

 Stone Freeman ’19, M.A. ’21

Director, Rhody Excellence Collective

Stone Freeman ’19, M.A. ’21 is the director of the Rhody Excellence Collective where he oversees all day-to-day operations for Rhody Excellence, the official NIL Collective of Rhode Island Athletics and works to generate revenue to help support name, image, & likeness opportunities for student athletes at URI. He is also a part-time faculty member in URI’s Harrington School of Communications and Media and President of the URI Young Alumni Council.
